Regulatory Agencies

Bottled water is one of the most regulated food products globally.

At the global level, we have the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) which maintains a strict Model Code of quality for its members.

At the national level countries evolve regulatory framework by which all bottled water brands must adhere to. In Nigeria, National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) regulates food and drug including Bottled Water. They ensure bottled water product safety from production to packaging to consumption.

All bottled water products must comply with NAFDAC's Quality Standards which includes:

  • Standards of Quality
  • Standards of Identity (such as labeling regulations and standardized terms)
  • Good Manufacturing Practices (such as plant construction, sanitary facilities and process controls) among others.

Aquamax Ozonized Table Water is duly registered and regulated by NAFDAC.

Bottled water is also subject to other levels of regulations and standards as may be applicable at the state, local government and industry levels.
